How do I begin building a chart?
The process to build a chart for in-depth QuickBooks business analysis is as follows.
1. Create a pane to place the chart in and dock it somewhere on the page.
2. Click Build Chart on the Management Tools tab and choose using QuickBooks®
3. Click Place Here on the pane you created.
QuickBooks® must be running to build a new chart
4. Select the Report Type you want to pull data from. You will see the Building Report...
5. Select any filter options, for more information on filters click here.
6. Select the way in which you want the report's columns summarized.
7. Select the type of year you would like to use.
8. Select the type of date range you would like to use.
9. Select the way you would like the date period broken down.
Example: Choose Monthly to break the desired report down by month.
10. Select the rolling date range for your report.
Note: This date range will be updated when you refresh.
11. Confirm the selected report type and date range. Press the Generate Report>> button.
12. Qvinci® will pull all the actual data per your selections.
13. Click each item you want displayed. There is no limit however, more than 5 or 6 lines tend to be harder to read.
14. Choose the order you want them in.
15. After adding items from the QuickBooks® report you can go back to step 5 and query another report in the same graph or if you have all the items you want choose OK.
You may now change the appearance of the bars, legend, fonts, colors, size, rotation, title and much more. You may also change the Chart Type at the top for the visual effect you desire. First click Update to place the chart. Then, right click on the chart and right click Edit will allow you to further refine the chart and create custom QuickBooks reports..
Once a chart is built it is always there until you change or delete it. That is, if you build a chart for Q1 2007 then that chart will always display the Q1 2007 data. Conversely, if you build a chart for Last Month then the chart will always display data for the Last Month relevant to the current month you are in. It moves with the calendar.
