After seeing Rosa Lee Pennick’s story in the Austin American Statesman recently, the Qvinci team knew we wanted to do something to help. At an age when other Austinites usually receive care, Rosa, 85, is the caregiver for three other elderly women. Having lost her husband last year, she does this all on her own.

After Miss Rosa’s story circulated through our office here in Austin, Texas, we were inspired to get involved in the Statesman’s annual Season for Caring. Previous to this, Qvinci did not have a social responsibility program in place…

We do now.

“We’re a relatively young, fast moving tech company and setting up a program to give back to the local community was always part of our plan for the future,” said Michael O’Keefe, coordinator of the just launched Qvinci Cares program.

“But, when we saw how much Miss Rosa is doing for others at a time of her life when someone should be looking after her, we knew that ready or not, we needed to do something. She’s a remarkable lady.”

Rosa was nominated for Season for Caring by Interfaith Action of Central Texas. She is a beneficiary of the organization’s Hands on Housing program and Qvinci’s donation will go towards home improvements.
